Adding ICD-10 Codes via the Problems Tab inside the Patient's EMR
- Open the Patient Menu
- Enter a patient's name into the search field
Click the Search button or press Enter
- With the patient selected and highlighted, click the EMR tab
- Select the Problems tab
- Click the New button to create a new problem record
- Click the drop-down list in the Problem Type field and choose a Problem Type
If the Problem Type record contains an ICD-9 Code, ICD-10 Code, or Remarks, it will automatically populate the corresponding fields in the Problem. You can always override any data that is copied from the Problem Type if it is not correct for this particular case.
- After entering a Problem Type, click into the ICD-10 Code field
- Press the "Lookup" key on your keyboard (the default is set to Alt + Insert)
This key press will open up the Diagnosis Code Lookup window
- Select an ICD-10 Code from the list or click New to open the Diagnosis Code Editor
- Click the Ellipsis (...) next to the ICD Code field (or use your keyboard shortcut for Lookups)
- The ICD-10 Browser opens
- Locate the desired ICD-10 code using the methods described previously in this documentation. Double-click the desired ICD-10 code to populate the ICD field in the Diagnosis Code Editor and save the record.
- After you have created the problem record, both ICD-9 and ICD-10 codes are displayed in the Problem List, making it very easy to see your standard ICD-9 and ICD-10 code for the Problem.
